Welcome to BellaCane Dobermans. We are Tommy and Melinda Moyer, residing in Montpelier, VA along with our five Dobermans. Melinda acquired her first Doberman 30 years ago and Tommy was introduced to this wonderful breed 8 years ago. Together, we are dedicated to breeding for health, correct temperament and conformation. Our dogs are not housed in kennels, they live among us as members of our family.
BellaCane (meaning beautiful dog in Italian) was derived from our foundation bitch,
MBIS MBISS GCHP CH Tiburon Ariel Bella Dona. Bella retired from the show ring as
AKC’s #1 Doberman in the country for 2013.
She was also the DPCA’s #1 Doberman for the 2013-2014 year.
Bella had a litter in 2015 with multiple finished Champions and Grand Champions,
including Abira whom we kept from this litter and resides in our home.
Abira began her Campaign with her handler, Cindy Lane Smith in January 2018, showing around the country and following in her Dam and Sire’s footsteps, she quickly moved up the ladder and finished the 2018 year as #1 Doberman All Systems!!! We couldn’t be more thrilled and proud of her success. She is still currently showing around the country and hopes to finish off the DPCA year, which ends April 30th, as the #1 Doberman there as well.
Puppies bred by BellaCane are out of our bitches that have been completely health tested including: OFA Echocardiogram, OFA 24hr Holter, Cardio PDK4 DCM1 and DCM2 Tests, vWD, OFA Thyroid, OFA Hips, OFA Eye Certified, DINGS and complete blood panels. The males chosen also have been through the same health testing.
Prior to the puppies being placed in homes, between10-12 weeks of age, they will be immunized, cropped and docked. Right before puppies are cropped, we work on separating and crate training them so it makes it easier once cropping is done for them to sleep alone. They also have individual runs which are side by side so they can run and play along the runs.. They have a large play area inside and outside where they have numerous surfaces and objects to play with and on. When you take your new puppy home, you will find the puppy will bewell socialized and adjusted.
On the following pages, you can view our adult dogs, to include those used in our breeding program and those that have been and are currently active in the show rings.
